Fourth Grade with Mr. Brown

Fourth Grade Information 2011/2012

Welcome to my website! I am very excited about teaching math, science, and social studies to twenty nine fourth graders.  I also look forward to guiding the students as they continue to learn about the Catholic Church and practice their faith.
In religion the topics for the year will be the Ten Commandments and the Beatitudes. Throughout the year we will study the parts of the mass, the church year and the sacraments. We will include prayer in our daily routines and strive to act as Jesus would. You are always welcome at our school masses on Tuesdays.
In science we will concentrate on the scientific method. Earth,Life, and Physical Science units will be covered this year. The Foss kits and textbook labs will be used to provide time for experiments.  The fall field trip to Dubuque is in the planning stages and you will receive more information concerning this trip at a later date.
During social studies classes this year the  fourth graders will study map and globe concepts and the geography of the regions of the United States.       Fourth grade math students will spend some time reviewing and practicing the math facts. Throughout the year the students will work on number concepts, adding subtracting, multiplying and dividing numbers. All students will spend an hour a week using the ALEKS online math program.                   If you have any questions or concerns be sure to contact me at 563-852-3331.  You can also e-mail me at this address: gbrown@aquin.org.
